Firefighters Respond To Multiple Fires In Ocean Beach

Officers detained a suspect for questioning, but no arrests have been made, police said.

SAN DIEGO, CA – Firefighters Friday are on scene of at least three fires that damaged several trash cans, a fence and multiple cars in Ocean Beach, police said.

Firefighters responded to reports of a fire around 11:11 p.m. Thursday in the 2100 block of Bacon Street in Ocean Beach, San Diego police Sgt. Michael Stirk said.

Crews later responded to reports of a trash can fire around 4:11 a.m. in the 5100 block of Voltaire and reports of a fence fire shortly after 5:30 a.m. in the 5100 block of West Point Loma Boulevard, Stirk said.

The fence fire reportedly caused damage to two nearby vehicles, but no structures in the area were damaged by the fires.

No injuries were reported from the fires.

Officers detained a suspect for questioning at 5:58 a.m. at Long Branch Avenue and Spray Street, but no arrests have been made, Stirk said.

The cause of the fires is still under investigation.
