SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — As the weekend wraps up, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.

But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should know that rain is making its way across Southern California Monday with lulls expected between periods of heavy rain, mountain snow and possible thunderstorms that will continue through Wednesday.

"A strong Pacific storm will impact the region through Wednesday, bringing periods of heavy rain, gusty winds, cooler temperatures, high-elevation snow, and a slight chance of thunderstorms," NWS Los Angeles forecasters wrote Monday. "Dry weather with warming temperatures are expected to follow on Thursday and Friday. Unsettled weather may return next weekend."

In other news, a Los Angeles Police Department officer was released from a hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to his hand inflicted by a ghost gun, authorities said.
