Man Shot In Hand After Approaching Car In San Diego
A 30-year-old man was hospitalized Thursday with a gunshot wound to his left hand following a shooting in southeast San Diego, police said.

SAN DIEGO, CA – A 30-year-old man was hospitalized Thursday with a gunshot wound to his left hand following a shooting in southeast San Diego's Jamacha-Lomita area, police said.
It happened at about 10:10 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of Billow Drive, located off Cardiff Street, San Diego police Sgt. Michael Tansey said.
The man was loitering on Billow Drive with a companion when a dark sedan traveling northbound on the street rolled toward the pair, Tansey said.

The victim thought he recognized the car and approached it on the passenger side as it slowed to a stop, Tansey said.
The front passenger window then was rolled down and a man in the driver's seat, the lone occupant of the sedan, fired a single gunshot at the victim, Tansey said. He then drove off northbound on Billow Drive.

The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his left hand, Tansey said. The injury was not expected to be life-threatening.
No suspect descriptions were immediately available.
Detectives from the department's Southeastern Division were investigating the shooting.
