National Weather Service Wind Advisory Continues in San Diego County

The weather advisory starts on Wednesday and will last for days in San Diego County.

SAN DIEGO - Strong winds are expected to develop Wednesday in San Diego County's deserts.

A National Weather Service wind advisory for the deserts is set to extend from 5 p.m. Wednesday to 8 a.m. Friday. Sustained wind speeds of 25 to 35 miles per hour and gusts of up to 50 mph will be possible.

"A low pressure trough and increasing onshore flow will boost winds in the desert this afternoon into Friday morning," according to the weather service. "Strongest winds will be in the San Gorgonio Pass into the northern Coachella Valley and in the Anza Borrego Desert during the late afternoons through the nights."

Strong winds may lead to hazardous driving conditions, especially for motorists in high-profile vehicles. Blowing dust and sand may also cause visibility to be reduced to 2 to 5 miles, according to the NWS.
