Newsom Appoints Two County Residents To CSU Board Of Trustees
Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the appointment of two San Diego County residents to the California State University Board of Trustees.
SAN DIEGO — Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the appointment Friday of two San Diego County residents to the California State University Board of Trustees.
Newsom appointed El Cajon resident Maryana Khames, 18, and San Diego resident Jeffrey Krinsk, 70, to the board, part of a spate of appointments to state boards on higher education. Newsom also announced the formation of a state advisory council on post-secondary education, which will advise him on policy matters.
Khames, a sophomore at San Diego State University, is a justice on the university's Judicial Affairs Council for Associated Students and a student assistant for SDSU's Center for Student Success in Engineering.

In 2016-17, Khames served as a district representative for former state Sen. Joel Anderson, according to the governor's office.
Krinsk has been CEO and managing partner of the Finkelstein and Krinsk law firm since 2005. Prior to that, he served in executive roles for Fabulous Inn America Inc., the clothing companies Guess Inc. and Hang Ten International and the law firm Norton and Christensen.

Khames and Krinsk will each receive $100 per diem for their service on the board and neither will require state Senate confirmation. Both appointees are registered Democrats.
