Over 500K Mail Ballots Already Returned In San Diego County

SAN DIEGO, CA — More than 500,000 voters in San Diego County have returned their mail ballots for Tuesday's general election as of 10 a.m. Monday, according to the San Diego County Registrar of Voters. Over 1.9 million mail ballots were sent to registered voters in the county.

A 60 percent county turnout is expected for the election, according to the county registrar's office. There was a 59.93 percent turnout for the California gubernatorial recall election in September 2021 and a 66.42 percent turnout for the gubernatorial general election in November 2018.

There were 1,925,738 total registered voters in the county, as of close of voter registration on Oct. 24. Of those, 799,375 were Democratic, 519,234 were Republican, 487,197 were nonpartisan and 119,932 were registered as other.
