San Diego Animal Agencies Offer Free, Low-Cost Spay And Neuter Surgeries

San Diego Humane Society and the San Diego County Department of Animal Services will host a high-volume spay and neuter clinic Feb. 25.

SAN DIEGO, CA — In recognition of Spay/Neuter Awareness Month, animal welfare agencies across the San Diego region will expand access to free and low-cost spay and neuter surgeries in an effort to prevent unwanted litters and ease pressure on local shelters.

The effort is led by the San Diego Animal Welfare Coalition, a partnership of local agencies dedicated to saving animals' lives, preventing animal suffering and eliminating animal abandonment.

As part of the initiative, the San Diego Humane Society and the San Diego County Department of Animal Services will host a high-volume spay and neuter clinic Feb. 25. Appointments are available online at sdhumane.org/spaymonth.

A $10,000 donation to San Diego Humane Society will fund 50 free appointments for pet families earning less than $100,000 per year. Additional services may have separate costs. Dog licensing and rabies vaccinations are required for dogs in participating jurisdictions.

Other organizations offering free or low-cost surgeries in February include Chula Vista Animal Services, Frosted Faces Foundation, PAWS of Coronado and the Riverside County Department of Animal Services.
