Over $1B In Property Taxes Collected In A Day In San Diego County

Taxpayers across San Diego County owed nearly $8.63 billion in 2023-2024 property taxes. ​

SAN DIEGO, CA — The San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office collected more than $1.24 billion in property tax payments in a single day on Monday.

Last year's billion-dollar day occurred on April 7, 2023, when the office collected over $1.3 billion dollars in property taxes in a single day.

"For the second year in a row we have collected more than a billion dollars in a single day. This figure underscores our continued growth as a region and highlights the responsible property owners who invest in San Diego," Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister said.

"San Diegans have shown us time and time again that they are responsible taxpayers by paying what they owe before the deadline," he added. "This money is essential to San Diego and goes to funding public schools, first responders, and other essential services."

Taxpayers across San Diego County owed nearly $8.63 billion in 2023-2024 property taxes. The Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office sent 1,013,632 tax bills in early October.

Property taxes were due in two installments. The first property tax installment was due on Nov. 1, 2023. The second installment was due Feb. 1 and became delinquent after Wednesday, according to the Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office.

Payment reminder notices will be sent in May. The county expects to collect 99% of property taxes owed by June 30.

Residents can view and pay their bill online at sdttc.com. Taxpayers can also pay by phone at 855-829-3773, mail or in person at one of the branch offices.
