Surfrider Foundation San Diego joins the solar energy revolution

Sullivan Solar Power teams up with the local Surfrider Foundation chapter to launch solar program

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (June 21, 2018) – Today, Surfrider Foundation San Diego and Sullivan Solar Power announced a solar program for Surfrider members aimed at helping members ditch fossil fuels while also giving back to the organization. Eliminating dirty fossil fuels and switching to solar energy can prevent future oil spills, ocean acidification and rising sea levels. As part of Surfrider Foundation’s Purchase with Purpose program, Sullivan Solar Power will donate $500 to Surfrider Foundation San Diego for every member household that goes solar.

“The production and use of renewable energy sources, such as solar, is a way to curb emissions and slow climate change,” said Michael Torti, Executive Committee Chair of Surfrider Foundation San Diego Chapter, “Our team is proud to announce Sullivan Solar Power, a San Diego solar company, as a partner of supporting Surfrider San Diego Chapter's efforts to protect our communities’ ocean, waves and beaches.”

The Surfrider Foundation San Diego solar program will offer a series of educational and fun solar events throughout San Diego County, informing members about solar and battery technology. The first partnership event is Power & Pints, an educational solar seminar and social gathering for Surfrider Foundation San Diego staff and members. The event will take place on Tuesday, June 26 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Duck Foot Brewing Company in Miramar and will include free craft beer with RSVP and a presentation by Sullivan Solar Power’s certified energy practitioners.
