CALIFORNIA — The year has almost come to a close, so we are taking a look back at some of the top stories from across California over the past year.
As we pause to reflect on 2021, we remember the lives lost and honor the frontline heroes of the deadly coronavirus pandemic. We also reflect on how the state reopened and continues to recover from the pandemic, from vaccine rollouts, lotteries and mandates, to breakthrough COVID-19 cases and variants.
We take a look back on the civil unrest that erupted into violence after the U.S. presidential election, as well as Gov. Gavin Newsom's landslide victory in the California recall election.
