Tropical Storm Hilary Blows Through San Diego County: See Photos

SAN DIEGO, CA — Tropical Storm Hilary swept through San Diego County Sunday, brining gusty winds and widespread rain throughout the region.

The storm led to car crashes and flooding in parts of the county, as well as power outages and closures at beaches, parks, schools and theme parks.

Before Tropical Storm Hilary made landfall in the county, Mother Nature treated San Diegans to a stunning sunset Saturday evening. Patch reader Jeff Kahler captured this pre-storm photo in Oceanside.

Local resident Cameron Filer shielded his dog "Socks" with a full body rain coat as they walked home under light rain Sunday across Waterfront Park in downtown San Diego.

Unhoused people used plastic tarps to shield themselves from light rain brought by Tropical Storm Hilary in downtown San Diego.
