2 Face Fines Following Cliff Rescue Near Golden Gate Bridge: SFFD

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Two people are now facing fines after going off trail and getting stuck on a cliff near the Golden Gate Bridge, fire officials said.
Fire officials say the two people were near the popular tourist attraction around 4 p.m. and did not obey the posted signs warning of the consequences of going off trail.
They got stuck on a cliff, prompting authorities to call in a California Highway Patrol helicopter to assist with the rescue, according to a video of the rescue filmed by the San Francisco Fire Department.

Video shows the helicopter lifting a rescuer and one of the people from below a cliff.
Nobody was injured during the process. But Golden Gate National Recreation Area officials say the two people will be fined.

It's unclear how hefty the fine will be. Trespassing in a national park area can result in up to a $500 fine, according to the Department of Justice.
