Accused Retail Thief Jailed On Grand Theft Charges
He is charged with theft from Union Square stores and others across the city.

SAN FRANCISCO — A 49-year-old man suspected of several retail thefts in San Francisco's Union Square and other locations around the city over the past year is facing several charges of burglary, theft, and shoplifting.
During thefts going back to December 2023, Mark Farmer allegedly attempted to steal nearly $18,000 in merchandise from Bloomingdales, Lululemon, the Gap, and Athleta, the San Francisco District Attorney's office said in a statement Thursday.
He was arrested on Sept. 18 and charged with six counts of second-degree commercial burglary, four counts of grand theft, and 11 counts of shoplifting.

Farmer was arraigned Tuesday in San Francisco Superior Court and pleaded not guilty to all charges, according to prosecutors.
