American Sam Querrey Upsets World No. 1 Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon
The 28-year-old American ended Djokovic's winning streak on Saturday.
American Sam Querrey knocked out world No. 1 Novak Djokovic and ended his dominance in men's tennis (for now) in the third round of Wimbledon after play was suspended several times during the match due to rain.
Querrey, the No. 28 seed, ended Djokovic' record-breaking winning streak after Djokovic won his 30th Grand Slam singles match on Wednesday. The defeat also means Querrey ended Djokovic's dreams of achieving a Grand Slam or a "Golden Slam," which means winning all four major tournaments and the Olympic gold medal.
Querrey is also the first American to have defeated the world No. 1 at Wimbledon since 1985 when Kevin Curren defeated John McEnroe.

The American was up 7-6 (6), 6-1 in the first two sets on Friday before play was suspended for the day due to rain. Djokovic closed out the third set (after a second two-hour rain delay) when play resumed on Saturday. In the fourth set, Djokovic had the chance to serve for the set at 5-4 but Querrey broke back his serve and play was once again suspended with Querrey up 6-5. It finally came down to a tiebreaker that won the American the set and the match.
"He just overpowered me," Djokovic said in a press conference after the match.

Asked if he was 100 percent healthy, he said, "not really."
Querrey, ranked No. 41 in the world, faces France's Nicholas Mahut in the fourth round.
Djokovic has not lost a Grand Slam since the 2015 French Open, where he lost to Stanislas Wawrinka. He last failed to reach the quarter final of a Grand Slam in 2009.
Querrey has never made it past the fourth round of a major tournament. American Steve Johnson is also in the fourth round of the tournament.
Top seeds Roger Federer and Andy Murray have also advanced to the fourth round of the tournament.
Retired American tennis stars Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish congratulated Querrey.
