SAN FRANCISCO, CA — As we head into the new work week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, residents should expect rain to return this week, according to the National Weather Service.
"Cool temperatures and beneficial rainfall today through Wednesday," NWS San Francisco forecasters wrote Monday. "Isolated to scattered thunderstorms on Tuesday. Seasonal temperatures and dry conditions for the later part of the week."
In other news, a teen was arrested after police found a loaded handgun during a traffic stop; several people were sent to the hospital after a collision involving boats; two people were killed and one was wounded in Oakland shootings; two people were found dead in a possible murder-suicide; and two local residents pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit visa fraud.
Plus, enrollment in California K-12 schools, and in schools across the country, is declining rapidly as birth rates drop and immigration rates fall. This school year, California had the largest decline in enrollment rates since 2021-22, after schools returned from the pandemic.
