SAN FRANCISCO, CA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.

But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, residents should expect windy and fire weather conditions across the region, according to the National Weather Service.

"Breezy to windy conditions, especially across the North, East and South Bay mountains and the Santa Cruz mountains through Monday," NWS San Francisco forecasters wrote Sunday. "Elevated fire weather concerns continue through Monday across the interior with low humidities and strong gusts."

In other news, a brush fire burned 80 acres; a man was fatally struck by a falling tree branch amid strong winds; a person died by a possible drowning at a county park; and eight people were rescued after they became trapped in a cave as seawater rose. Also, three people were killed and five were injured when a vehicle plowed into pedestrians.

Plus, Monday is the last day to register to vote in California's statewide primary election on June 2. Eligible voters who miss the deadline still have the option of same-day registration and casting a provisional ballot at any polling place.
