SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Nine people were arrested, and 29 others were cited during a "DUI Saturation Patrol" in San Francisco on Friday, police said.
Police say they pulled over 30 drivers between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. while looking for signs of alcohol or drug impairment.
Of those 30, four were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and five on suspicion of having a suspended or revoked license, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
Meanwhile, 29 of the 30 were issued citations, police said. It's unclear whether officers conducted the patrol across the city or in a specific portion.
DUI patrols differ from checkpoints in that officers are deployed to drive around a certain area, perhaps one with high DUI-related crashes. A checkpoint targets similar areas, but instead sets up a roadblock that drivers must pass through.
