Bay Area Unemployment Lowest Last Month In Tech-Heavy Counties

Statewide, unemployment in September was at 3.7 percent, down from 4.1 percent in August and 6.4 percent in September 2021.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Unemployment in the greater Bay Area was the lowest last month in San Mateo County, according to the California Employment Development Department, which publishes the data.

San Mateo County's unemployment rate was at 1.9 percent compared
with 2.1 percent in Santa Clara County and San Francisco. The rate in Marin County was slightly higher at 2.2 percent.

The low rates are at or below pre-pandemic rates, according to
departmental data. San Joaquin County had the highest rate in September at 4.9
percent, the data show.
