BAY AREA — 2023 is off to one of the wettest starts in Bay Area history. Two atmospheric rivers soaked the region in the span of days, bringing with them mass flooding, power outages, downed trees, and even two deaths.

Downtown San Francisco received 10.33 inches of rain from Dec. 26 to Jan. 4, making it the wettest 10-day record for the area since January 1862, when it received 14.37 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

The best part? It’s not even over yet. The Bay Area is expected to receive between two to three more inches of rain between Saturday and Tuesday, and rains are expected to continue until Jan. 19.
