Boat Capsizes In Bodega Bay; Coast Guard Rescues Two Men
Two men were rescued from a rocky cliffside near Bodega Bay by the U.S. Coast Guard after a boat capsized.
BODEGA BAY, CA — Two men became stranded on the side of a rocky cliff after their boat capsized near Bodega Bay Friday. The U.S. Coast Guard rescued the two men after a friend of the men reported that the vessel had sunk around 4:45 p.m.
Watchstanders from the San Francisco Sector promptly deployed a 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew and Air Station San Francisco.
Within 15 minutes, rescue crews had spotted the men on the side of a rocky embankment at the entrance of Estero de San Antonio river in Bodega Bay.

The two men were airlifted with the help of a rescue swimmer, who hoisted the two men into a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter.
No injuries were reported.

“It was a great team effort by Coast Guard Sector San Francisco, Station Bodega Bay and Air Station San Francisco in executing the daring rescue,” said Cmdr. Paul Miller in a statement, search and rescue mission coordinator.
