Time to turn up the heat! Lorraine Hansberry Theatre presents the rolling world premiere of African Stew, a satirical new comedy by nationally acclaimed, award-winning playwright Lisa B. Thompson.

When an African American woman and a Nigerian man announce their whirlwind engagement, their two families gather for a dinner in Oakland - cultures clash, tensions simmer, and the pot reaches a boiling point! Directed by Edris Cooper-Anifowoshe, and featuring Artistic Director Margo Hall in the role of Didi, African Stew is an uproarious new play that brings complex relationships to the table.

"Lisa B. Thompson has a remarkable gift for finding humor, heart, and hard truths in the richness and complexity of Black life," says Hall. "African Stew is exactly the kind of play we need right now."

At a time when so much of the conversation is about who belongs and who doesn't, this deeply human story asks what it actually takes to build a family across class, across culture, and across generations.

Come hungry, leave nourished.

$35-$75.

Presented by Lorraine Hansberry Theatre.
