GRAMMY-Award winning pianist, arranger, and Askonas Holt Artist Craig Terry visits SFCM for a Voice Department residency culminating in a one-night-only performance of his popular Beyond the Aria series, originated at Chicago Lyric Opera's Ryan Opera Center. Beyond the Aria pairs Terry with Voice students for a wide-ranging program that has seen Broadway standards mingle with Strauss and Stevie Nicks; the 2025 performance culminated in a rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" with over two dozen Voice students.
Currently Music Director of The Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Terry previously served for 11 seasons at Lyric as Assistant Conductor. Prior to that, he was Assistant Conductor at The Metropolitan Opera after joining its Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. He won the Best Classical Solo Vocal Album GRAMMY in 2020 for his work as bandleader and arranger on Joyce DiDonato's Songplay.
