Financial fraud and scams have become more sophisticated, making it harder to navigate these financial threats. To help people of all ages protect themselves against fraud and scams, Bank of America has begun hosting what it calls “Scaminars.” The initial workshops have been received so well by BofA clients that the bank decided to expand the program by hosting 2,500 of the scam and fraud prevention seminars throughout the year to anyone interested.
The “scaminars” will be held monthly at various local BofA financial centers or at community centers and other community-based locations for free, including one in Sacramento at 2861 Del Paso Rd Sacramento, CA 95835 on November 13.
Attendees will learn basics such as:
- Recognizing common red flags that signal a scam, including online and email
- New and trending scams that may not be widely known
- Ways to prevent becoming a victim of fraud
- Knowing your bank’s security policies and what to do if you become a victim
You can find upcoming workshops listed here, with more being added every week.
