SAN FRANCISCO, CA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, residents should expect a cooling trend to begin later this week as the marine layer pushes farther inland, according to the National Weather Service.
"Long period southwest swell will result in an increased risk of sneaker waves and rip currents through Tuesday morning," NWS San Francisco forecasters wrote Monday. "Today will be the warmest day of the week for most locations. Slightly cooler temperatures by the end of the week into the weekend."

In other news, a 17-year-old was killed when the car he was in collided with a tractor-trailer and flew off an overpass; a hit-and-run driver struck two minors riding an electric scooter; three people and a dog were displaced and another dog was killed in a house garage fire; and a man was arrested after an AR-style firearm was found in his vehicle.
Also, the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens is offering free weekday admission for children ages 11 and younger throughout June.
