Castro Holiday Tree Lighting Planned For Monday

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Following this Thanksgiving holiday weekend, San Francisco will continue the holiday cheer next week with the lighting of the Castro Holiday Tree.
Mayor London Breed will join other state and local elected leaders and dignitaries for the 6 p.m. Monday lighting ceremony at Castro and 18th streets.
Santa Claus, the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band and others will make appearances at the event, which is meant to ring in the holiday shopping season for local businesses in the city's Castro District.

State Sen. Scott Wiener and Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, who represent the Castro in the state Legislature and the city's Board of Supervisors, respectively, are among the expected attendees, organizers said.
