Cat Dead, 3 Firefighters Injured In Bay Area Blaze: Authorities

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Fire officials say they're investigating a blaze in San Francisco's Bernal Heights neighborhood that left one cat dead and multiple firefighters injured.

It's unclear what ignited the blaze. The San Francisco Fire Department said the flames erupted just before 6:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Anderson Street.

When crews arrived, the first floor of the residence was fully engulfed in flames, fire officials said.

Video posted online by the San Francisco Fire Department shows crews battling heavy flames and smoke emanating from the building.

It took nearly an hour for fire crews to contain the blaze, authorities said.

Seven people were displaced, along with one cat and a dog, officials said.

One cat died from its injuries despite life-saving efforts from firefighters, authorities said.

Three firefighters, meanwhile, were hospitalized with minor burn injuries, authorities said.
