Data Show More Than 76% Of Those Eligible in SF Are Registered Voters

In San Francisco, 76.9 % of those eligible to vote are registered voters.

SAN FRANCISCO — The latest statewide registered voter figures have been released and the percentage of San Francisco's registered voters is slightly lower than the statewide number, the data show.

Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber released the latest report of registration which reflects data as of Feb. 10.

Statewide, a total of 21,980,768 Californians are registered to vote, which is 82.27 percent of eligible Californians, compared to 79.09 percent at the same point after a regular gubernatorial election four years ago.

In San Francisco,653,715 people are eligible to register to vote with 501,970 or 76.9 percent of those eligible actually being registered.

Of those registered in San Francisco, 317,096 or 63.17 percent are registered as Democrats, 33,765 or 6.73 percent are Republicans and 9,611 or 1.91 percent are Independent. More than 25 percent of those of those eligible, 125,879 or 25.08 percent, are registered with no party affiliation and 8,086 are registered as either Libertarian, Peace and Freedom or Green. 3,189 or .64 percent are registered as "other" while the remaining 4,344 people registered have no party preference.

The report of registration is a compilation of voter registration numbers reported by California's 58 county elections offices.
