Federal Drug Enforcement Surge In San Francisco Yields Nearly 90 Arrests

The operation targeted drug trafficking activity, particularly in the city's Tenderloin district.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Federal and local law enforcement agencies announced Friday the results of a drug enforcement operation in San Francisco from October 2025 to May 2026 that led to 89 arrests, the seizure of more than 2.2 kilograms of fentanyl, over 840 grams of methamphetamine, over $38,000 in drug proceeds, and the filing of federal charges against more than 40 defendants.

The operation targeted drug trafficking activity, particularly in the city's Tenderloin district.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said many of the cases involved significant quantities of narcotics and resulted in lengthy federal prison sentences.

Among those sentenced were Kiet Ly, 46, of San Francisco, who received 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to methamphetamine trafficking and firearms offenses.

Martha Alvarado Rodriguez, 50, and Solis Soto Alvardo, 35, both of Oakland, were each sentenced to three years in federal prison on drug-related charges. According to court documents and proceedings, Rodriguez and Alvardo sold fentanyl to undercover police officers more than once in the Tenderloin district.

Since the initiative began, authorities said it has led to more than 200 federal drug prosecutions and over 160 convictions, with additional cases still pending.
