Fire Burns 5th Floor Of Residential Building In San Francisco Civic Center

The fire was contained to one room.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Firefighters were called to extinguish a blaze on the fifth floor of an eight-story residential building in San Francisco's Civic Center late Saturday.

The fire about 9:55 p.m. at 44 McAllister was adjacent to the landmark Hibernia Bank Building, now a meeting and event space, and near the Federal Office Building on United Nations Plaza.

The fire was contained to one room, and there were no reports of injuries or displacements, the fire department said.
