Former SF Teacher Accused Of Child Sex Tourism In Vietnam

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A former substitute teacher in San Francisco was arrested by federal authorities on suspicion of traveling to Vietnam in order to have sex with boys as young as 11 or 12 years old.

Paul Marshall Bodner, 64, was arrested on Feb. 13 by agents from the Department of Homeland Security, the agency said Friday. Bodner, who formerly taught in the San Francisco Unified School District, met the boys at a hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, authorities said.

A federal indictment charged Bodner with three counts of travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct, and one count of engaging in illicit sexual conduct in foreign places, according to David L. Anderson, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California.

Authorities started investigating Bodner after agents encountered him during his travels, according to Homeland Security. The San Francisco Police Department helped with the investigation.

If convicted, Bodner would face a maximum of 30 years in prison, a life term of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.
