Giants Manager Bruce Bochy Announces Retirement After Season
Giants manager Bruce Bochy, who led the club to three World Series championships, has announced his retirement following the 2019 season.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA ā San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy, who led the club to three World Series championships during a years-long period of sustained dominance, has announced his retirement following the 2019 season, the organization confirmed Monday.
Bochy, 63, has been the Giants manager since the 2007 season. He led San Francisco to World Series wins in 2010, 2012, and 2014, and has won more games than any other manager in Giants history, finishing up with a 979-965 record. He's more than likely to wind up in the Hall of Fame for his efforts.
Bochy told reporters Monday that he acknowledged that rumors about his impending retirement had been swirling, and he just wanted to move on.

"There's been so many questions about it," he said. "So get that out, and put that behind us...in my mind, it's time."
The announcement came as spring training for the Giants and the rest of Major League Baseball gets underway.

"It's just a gut feeling that it's time," he added. "Just an unbelievable ride."
While the Giants have attempted to remain competitive in the years following their three championships, they have struggled in the past two seasons, finishing with 64 and 73 wins in 2017 and 2018, respectively. With the core of those teams, like Buster Posey and Madison Bumgarner, either declining with age or coming to the conclusion of their contracts, it feels like an appopriate time for Bochy to bid adieu.
Bochy is one of just 10 managers to ever win at least three World Series titles, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi.
