Job Gains Notched In San Francisco

However, some industries posted job losses.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA —The number of jobs in San Francisco and San Mateo counties was up on a month-over-month and year-over-year basis last month, officials with the California Employment Development Department said Friday.

Between March and April of this year, the area added a net 4,000 jobs and between April 2016 and April 2017 the area gained 24,200 jobs.

Month-over-month, the area's leisure and hospitality industry added 5,100 jobs but that was offset by job losses in other industries such as finance and insurance and trade, transportation and utilities.

Year-over-year, leisure and hospitality jobs in the two county-area were up by 4,200, the health care industry added 2,200 jobs and jobs in the trade, transportation and utility industry grew by 3,900.

Construction jobs in two-county area also increased. The area's construction industry added 3,200 jobs for an 8.5 percent year-over-year increase.
