Larry Baer Suspended Without Pay By MLB

The move follows a video of Baer in a physical confrontation with his wife.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Major League Baseball on Tuesday suspended San Francisco Giants
president and chief executive officer Larry Baer through July 1 after a video surfaced earlier this month of a physical altercation between Baer and his wife.

In the video released on March 1, Baer appeared to grab a phone and papers from his wife, who is seated in a chair and falls to the ground screaming. The altercation happened in the city's Hayes Valley neighborhood.

Baer took a leave of absence from the team on March 4 and that will now be converted to an unpaid suspension through July 1. The Giants will be operated by their executive team, which is reporting to acting CEO Rob Dean, according to the team.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said he has met with Baer and concluded that he "should be held to a higher standard because as a leader he is expected to be a role model for others in his organization and community."

The Giants released a statement about the suspension, calling it "appropriate disciplinary measures" and saying the team shares "the Commissioner's concern and disappointment as it does not represent the values of the Giants organization."
