A 58-year-old man was charged in connection with Monday's shooting at a Muni bus in San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A 58-year-old man was charged in connection with Monday's shooting at a Muni bus in San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood, according to prosecutors.

Adolph Greene was arraigned Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to a count of discharging of a firearm at an occupied motor vehicle, assault with a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon against a public transit employee, possession of a firearm with a prior conviction, possession of a firearm by felon, alcarrying a loaded firearm by a prohibited person, carrying a concealed a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of ammunition and destroying evidence.

Based on court documents, around 6 a.m. Monday a Muni bus approached the intersection of Fourth and Berry streets where Greene was walking in the middle of the street. The bus stopped at a red light as he walked in the street outside of the crosswalk.

When the light turned green, Greene was still walking in the street. As the bus moved forward, he allegedly stopped in front of the bus and walked toward it as the driver tried to steer around him, prosecutors said.

Green then allegedly took out a revolver from his jacket and fired a shot at the bus, which went through the windshield and hit a passenger seat, before walking away, the District Attorney's Office said.

There were 15 to 20 passengers inside the bus at the time of the shooting, according to authorities.

Police found Greene near the scene and arrested him. Officers later recovered the revolver from the Mission Creek Channel.

"I am grateful there was no loss of life or serious injury in this shocking shooting," District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said in a statement. "Public transit plays a vital role in our city and must be safe for everyone, including drivers and passengers. My office will do everything in our power to ensure that there is justice in this case."

Prosecutors said they moved to have Greene detained pending trial. A judge put the case on no bail status. His next court date is on Tuesday for the preliminary hearing.
