"The scars of domestic violence extend far beyond the physical; they leave lasting emotional wounds that can take years to heal," San Francisco Assistant District Attorney Abigail Adams said in a statement on Tuesday. "I am grateful to the jury for carefully considering the evidence and reaching verdicts that hold Mr. Bahruddin accountable so that he can no longer wield power and control over the Survivor and her family."

For years, Bahruddin terrorized the family physically and emotionally, prosecutors said.

During one occasion on Sept. 18, 2023, Bahruddin went over to his ex-partner's home and accused her of cheating on him, prosecutors said.

Then, he threatened to kill her and her kids, authorities said.

At some point during the threats, Bahruddin grabbed a kitchen knife and used it to push his ex-partner into the bathroom, prosecutors said.

There, at knifepoint, he tried to rape her and then forced her to orally copulate him, prosecutors said.

The following day, the woman awoke to Bahruddin asleep on her sofa with the kitchen knife and his cellphone, prosecutors said.

She left to take her kids to school, and when she returned, Bahruddin raped her in the bedroom at knifepoint, prosecutors said.

During this attack, he again threatened to kill her and her children and flee to another country, prosecutors said. He also cut her superficially across her neck, prosecutors said.

Bahruddin later forced the woman to pack and carry his luggage to his car and then left, prosecutors said.

After leaving, he continued harassing her, leaving her over 300 emails, prosecutors said.

The woman's son told police he heard Bahruddin raping his mother and slept with a meat cleaver under his pillow that night, for his protection, prosecutors said.

He also told officers that Bahruddin previously kicked him in the stomach and threatened to kill him, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors did not say when Bahruddin is due back in court for sentencing or how much time he may face.
