"This case is a clear example of how domestic violence hurts entire families, not just individual victims," prosecutors said.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A man has been convicted in a child abuse case stemming from when he kicked a child down a flight of stairs last year, prosecutors said.
A jury found Kasimu Harris, 52, guilty of domestic violence, assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, two counts of child abuse, disobeying a court order and vandalism, according to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.
Harris attacked a mother in front of her children, punched her, kicked her and threw her down a flight of cement stairs during the early hours of Sept. 20, 2025, according to prosecutors.

The woman tried to record Harris, but he took the phone from her and threw it down the stairs, prosecutors said.
Officers responded to the scene and arrested Harris, who was ordered to stay away from the woman and make no attempt to locate her for six days, prosecutors said. But in those days, he made several efforts to contact and find her, they added.
