Name These Baby Peregrine Falcons
Born on top of a San Francisco high rise, these chicks need names before they fly off to make their own way in the big city.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Three baby peregrine falcons that hatched atop the PG&E building in Downtown San Francisco had their well-baby checkup on Friday. The falcon pediatricians determined that there are two boys and a girl.
Now comes the fun part - naming the chicks.
Last year's batch of three chicks were named Steph, Iggy and KD in honor of Golden State Warriors Steph Curry, Andre Iguodala and Kevin Durant. Will there be a theme again this year? You can submit names using the hashtag #PGE4Me on Twitter and Instagram, or by emailing them to currents@pge.com. The deadline is Thursday. The winning names will be announced next week.

If you'd like to check out the chicks, you can watch a live stream of them on the Falcon Webcam. The photo above is a screengrab. You'll see the parents fly in with snacks, the chicks trying out their wings minus flight feathers or just snoozing, like one that's tucked under the light on the right. You can see its rear end sticking out.
The chicks were also banded on Friday. Bird watchers will be able to see the birds' banding numbers and share their location. Glenn Stewart, director of UC Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group, did the checkup and the banding.
