Neville Chamberlin is Back but in the form of Trump
History repeats itself in crazy ways
This time Neville Chamberlain is in the White House whining about Putin attacking Ukraine. I remember every United States President from Franklin Delano Roosevelt to Joe Biden feared being labelled like Neville Chamberlain when it came to defense and diplomacy issues. That label was considered the death of their reputation in past cases and especially true when it came to the lead up to World War II.
Appeasement and Isolation has been revelaed to be some of the causes that made World War II into the biggest war of the 20th century. Now the Associated Press and Reuters even with limited White House access managed to dig more dirt on Trump. This time showing how Trump was begging for Putin to stop the attacks in Ukraine. However this is not how you deal with Putin because Putin will do whatever the Duma and his mercinaries tell him is the best move here. Previous Presidents, Pentagon leaders, diplomats and members of congress have suggested two things like sanctions to Russia, boycotts getting NATO and the UN to respond to Russia with funding weapons to the opposition of Putin and in some cases threats of war. All of it is for the same reasons avoid that Neville Chamberlain label from their legacy in diplomacy.
Another one is make sure your damn servers and IT systems secure when it comes to classifed info. Also a decade ago what ever happen during the Email issues surrounding the Obama administration is considered quaint compared to how IT systems are handled in the Trump administration handles classifed info and social media posts on Telegram. Whatever the Trump administration is doing is all about diverting stuff to Russia and it all has to somehow benefit both Trump and Putin in ways we don’t understand yet. Some of this may violate a Bush era law called the Patriot Act basically that law was supposed to stop the very scenarios were are in today. If the Patriot Act was used on Trump today we won’t be in the situation we are in today where we have to hear that Trump is begging for Putin to stop the war in Ukraine. That’s not how a Pentagon or Diplomat meeting is supposed to go.
