NorCal Neighborhood Among Most 'Up-And-Coming' In U.S.: Report
TravelMag curated a list of the "most appealing" neighborhoods in the country.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — One Northern California neighborhood is among the most up-and-coming neighborhoods in the country, according to a new study.
TravelMag named Outer Sunset, San Francisco, as one of the "most appealing" neighborhoods in the U.S.
The publication compiled a list of 16 neighborhoods in major U.S. metropolitan areas and scored them on specific criteria, including the number of cool cocktail bars, fancy coffee houses and trendy eateries that have popped up in the past few years. The travel website also considered eclectic boutiques, as well as LGBTQ-friendly and vegan spots when curating the list.

"Some may say Outer Sunset assumes a suburban feel and is not as walkable as some areas of San Francisco, but the picture-perfect setting undoubtedly enhances residents' quality of life," TravelMag said. "This foggy slice of San Fran lured people looking to escape the city during the pandemic and the popularity didn't end there. One long-lasting effect is The Great Highway, a roadway and park hugging Ocean Beach. The weekend pedestrians-only thoroughfare, dotted with eateries and stores, has made Outer Sunset all the more alluring."
Only two other neighborhoods in California made the list: Frogtown in Los Angeles and North Park in San Diego.
