North Beach Penny Pitch For St. Anthony's
The popular pub game and fundraiser has raised more than $250,000 for programs at St. Anthony's.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A popular pub game and fundraiser returns to San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood today to benefit St. Anthony's programs such as its dining room, according to the St. Anthony Foundation.
Starting at 11 a.m. at Chief Sullivan's at 622 Green St., teams will compete in St. Anthony's 41st Annual Penny Pitch.
Opening pitches will be thrown by Police Chief Bill Scott and Fire Chief Joann Hayes-White.

Since the Penny Pitch began, it has raised more than $250,000 for programs at St. Anthony's.
The Penny Pitch was started by North Beach restaurateur Ed Moose at the once-popular but now-closed Washington Square Bar and Grill as a friendly wager between two of the city's watering holes.

Teams this year include the San Francisco Giants as well as presenting sponsor DPR Construction.
Mayor London Breed, former Mayor Willie Brown and Supervisor Aaron Peskin are also expected to attend.
St. Anthony's was founded in 1950 and provides meals, healthcare, clothing, shelter, addiction recovery services, job training, social services and technology access to the homeless, vulnerable and low-income in San Francisco.
