Olympic Figure Skater's Stolen Dresses, Skates Recovered

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — San Francisco police say they have recovered figure skating dresses and ice skates belonging to a U.S. Olympic figure skater that were stolen in an auto burglary earlier this month.

The items were stolen from Marissa Castelli, who was competing in the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in San Jose, around 8 p.m. on Jan. 8 while she was parked in the 1600 block of Webster Street.

Castelli wrote on Twitter at the time that a thief had smashed the window on a rental car and stolen bags, including the one holding her skates and costumes while she was out to dinner in Japantown.

"I am heartbroken," she wrote.

Police said they recovered the items on Sunday following an investigation and are now working to reunite Castelli with her belongings.

"Thank you to everyone for the well wishes and positive thought. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you San Francisco police," Castelli wrote on Twitter after hearing from police.
