One Arrested In Hayes Valley Hate Crime Case

Oakland resident Eduardo Navarro Perez allegedly made antisemitic racial slurs to the victim before hitting him with a skateboard.

SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco police officers arrested a 31-year-old Oakland resident in relation to a hate crime incident in the Hayes Valley neighborhood, the department announced on Tuesday.

On Dec. 17 at 12:32 a.m., a resident flagged police officers in the 400 block of Haight Street after seeing a man hit someone with a skateboard.

Police said they located a 30-year-old man who said a man approached him, made antisemitic racial slurs towards him and hit him with a skateboard. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries on the scene.

Police said they quickly identified the suspect as 31-year-old Eduardo Navarro Perez.
