Patelco Teams up with HFH for Inaugural Cycle of Hope Bike Ride

As Presenting Sponsor, Patelco Helped Raise Over $232,000 Along With Hundreds of Road Bikers Who Took To the Streets of Palo Alto, California

PLEASANTON, CALIFORNIA, Nov. 8, 2018Patelco Credit Union on Saturday teamed up with Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley for its Inaugural Cycle of Hope fundraiser as its presenting sponsor, helping to raise over $232,000. 641 cyclists took part in races held throughout Palo Alto, California, ranging from the 17-mile beginner circuit, to the 100-mile challenge for experienced racers.

“As long-time supporters and volunteers for Habitat for Humanity, Patelco was honored to serve as the first ever Cycle of Hope presenting sponsor,” said Erin Mendez, Patelco’s President and CEO. “Over the years, Patelco employees have given thousands of volunteer hours to build affordable housing and fostering hope for the Bay Area, and many employees were excited to put down the hardhat and put on a bike helmet to support this crucial organization in a new way.”

“With Cycle of Hope, we’ve provided a fun and accessible way for the community to join this movement,” says Janice Jensen, President and CEO of Habitat East Bay/Silicon Valley. “It’s with this exemplarily group of people, including our friends at Patelco, that we’re able to create more affordable homeownership opportunities here, where they are unfortunately so few and far between.”

200 volunteers contributed to a total of 1,000 hours to help make Cycle of Hope a success, including Patelco team members, who also provided promotional support to help raise awareness about Cycle of Hope and Habitat for Humanity.
