'Prolific' Ice Cream Thief Arrested In San Francisco: Police

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A man San Francisco police called a "prolific ice cream thief" has been arrested on suspicion of grand theft, according to authorities.

Police say 29-year-old Gregory Boone walked into the same store in the 400 block of Rhode Island Street eight times and stole more than $3,000 worth of items.

The most recent theft happened on Friday, June 12, when Boone, according to the San Francisco Police Department, walked into the store and stole $190 in merchandise. It's unclear what kind of items he is suspected of taking or whether any of them at the time were ice cream.

Officers responding to the scene tracked down Boone a block away and took him into custody in connection with the thefts, police said.

With the help of store employees, officers were able to link Boone to seven other thefts at the store, and he was again arrested on Wednesday, June 17, police said.

On Wednesday, police announced that prosecutors had charged Boone with one felony count of grand theft and eight misdemeanor counts of petty theft.

Boone's arrest was one of 25 highlighted by the San Francisco Police Department during a Wednesday press release.
