'Public Safety Risk': Man Accused Of Trafficking Drugs In San Francisco

The man faces several charges, including possession of cocaine, meth, heroin and marijuana for sale, authorities said.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A 61-year-old man is facing several charges after being accused of trafficking drugs in San Francisco, prosecutors said.

Clyde Darn was charged Monday with possessing drugs for sale, possession of fentanyl and other controlled substances while armed, possession of a firearm by a felon and carrying a loaded firearm, according to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors said they have also filed enhancements against Darn, including being armed at the time of his arrest and that he possessed a substance containing fentanyl that weighed more than 100 grams.

The 61-year-old has pleaded not guilty to the charges and denied any involvement in drug trafficking, authorities said.

Darn was arrested on Oct. 4, after police caught him holding a backpack with more than 200 grams of fentanyl, about 37 grams of meth, 26 grams of cocaine, 30 grams of heroin, nearly 50 grams of marijuana, pills, a digital scale, plastic bags and a gun, according to prosecutors.

He's been denied bail as prosecutors told a judge he poses a "public safety risk."

Darn is due back in court on Oct. 21 for a preliminary hearing, prosecutors said.
