San Francisco QB Trey Lance Still Not Throwing During Practice
Lance came to practice Monday without a splint on his finger, showing signs of progress from a recent injury.

SANTA CLARA (CBS SF/AP) ā Questions remain about the San Francisco 49ersā rookie quarterback Trey Lance, who came to practice Monday without a splint on his finger, showing signs of progress from a recent injury. Yet he still didnāt throw a ball.
Lance no longer needed a splint on the index finger on his throwing hand after suffering a small chip fracture in the exhibition finale on Aug. 29. But during the open portion of practice for reporters Monday, Lance didnāt make any throws, adding doubt to his ability to play the teamās season opening game next Sunday.

He held a ball during an early drill but practice squad quarterback Nate Sudfeld took warmup throws behind starter Jimmy Garoppolo. Lance didnāt take snaps from center and only went through the motions on his footwork in the backfield before making fake throws.
