SAN FRANCISCO, CA — San Francisco reported three new novel coronavirus cases Monday, bringing the city's number of positive cases to 40.

City officials are cautioning the public from relying on the confirmed case count as an indicator of how widespread the virus may be, and urge people to practice social distancing and maintain good hygiene.

Schools are closed, along with many businesses in an effort to slow the spread.
