San Francisco School Assignment Letters Mailed Today
There was a delay at the district. They should arrive Tuesday or Wednesday.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — San Francisco parents anxiously waiting to find out what public school their children were assigned to should be getting their letters by Tuesday or Wednesday this week, according to school district officials.
Assignment letters for the city's public schools were initially supposed to be mailed out on Friday, but a staffing emergency means that they will be going out today instead, San Francisco Unified School District
spokeswoman Gentle Blythe said.
"We know that families are anxious to find out where their child has been assigned and we are really sorry for the delay," Blythe said.

The school registration period has been extended to April 21 because of the delay.
In addition, many private schools have moved their acceptance deadlines to Friday to accommodate families that were waiting for word on public schools before making a decision on where to enroll, Blythe said.

The district is currently working to establish a process that will allow families that urgently need to know their school assignment in order to make deadlines at other schools to get it by email, according to Blythe.
