SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Beginning Saturday, visitors to the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens will be treated to a special holiday display — three reindeer, part of the Flying Reindeer Academy exhibit.

(On loan from Santa Claus, perhaps?)

The trio will make the SF Zoo their winter home through Jan. 1, 2020.

“We’re proud to be one of the few places in Northern California to highlight majestic reindeer to young visitors, many so starry-eyed when they see them for the first time in person,” said Tanya Peterson, CEO and executive director of the San Francisco Zoological Society.

“This year marks our 14th year bringing reindeer to visit and they are truly among the most magical animals to see in person," she said. "Our reindeer visitors will be available for viewing upon arrival this weekend, and guests can see them all week long since the Zoo is open on Thanksgiving Day for a great day to spend with family.”

The Flying Reindeer Academy is on the Playfield Lawn near the Elinor Friend Playground.

Zoo guests can learn more about the critters at the reindeer interpretation station and color their own wearable antlers. A new daytime exhibit that runs weekends Nov. 30 to Dec. 29, Joy at SF Zoo, also will feature Santa.
