SF-Marin Food Bank Receives Donation Delivery of 14,400 Pounds
Food Bank Kicks off Turkey Drive and Calls for Additional Donations.

The SF-Marin Food Bank kicked off its Thanksgiving Turkey Drive on Monday, November 6 with a delivery of 800 turkeys, more than 14,400 pounds (enough to serve 16,000 meals), from Foster Farms. The turkeys will be distributed in the coming weeks to help feed local families this Thanksgiving.
SF-Marin Food Bank’s Executive Director Paul Ash was on-site to receive the donation and speak to Bay Area food insecurity while calling for additional protein, food and monetary donations leading up to Thanksgiving – especially given the devastating wildfires affecting many North Bay Area families.
“Protein is one of the most important donations for the food bank because it is a nutritional staple for every wholesome meal. We are grateful for Foster Farms’ generous turkey donation, once again this year, which will help ensure that the Bay Area families we serve can enjoy the tradition of a satisfying Thanksgiving meal,” he said.

Thanksgiving is a time for families to gather around a meal, yet 1 in 4 people living in San Francisco and Marin are food insecure. Statewide, 1 in 8 (12.5 percent) of Californian households were food insecure at some time last year. SF-Marin Food Bank encourages the community to join Foster Farms in donating turkeys and other traditional Thanksgiving dinner food items to help Bay Area families in need enjoy the holiday.
San Francisco City Impact also received more than 1,800 pounds of Foster Farms turkey to help meet its holiday food needs, and on Nov. 15 Santa Rosa’s Redwood Empire Food Bank will be receiving a donation of 18,000 pounds of holiday turkey, 40,000 pounds of Foster Farms poultry products and a $100,000 cash donation to aid those North Bay families devastated by wildfires.
